UX Challenge: Live and Audio Streaming Features on Vidio Mobile App
📣 Disclaimer
This project is a personal project that is useful to add to my exploration of UI/UX. I do not work on a contractual or professional basis for Vidio.
👀 Background
Vidio is an online portal or video streaming website that was established in 2014. This site allows users to watch and enjoy various videos and other services such as live chat and play games through the internet and broadcast them by streaming (live streaming and video on demand). Over time, Vidio can also be accessed via mobile & tablet (iOS, Android), personal computers, web browser, set up boxes, smart TVs and other devices that have the Vidio application installed.
🔍 Objectives
- Create additional Live Concert features (watch concerts online via the Vidio.com application/web browser).
- Makes it easy for users to be able to listen to Podcasts/ Audio Streaming.
- Make it easy for users to find out their next steps regarding the available features.
🎨 Design Process
In this case, I use Design Thinking as a design process approach. This method is a method that is easy to understand and implement. These methods include;
1 — Empathise
In this stage I observed independently how the development of the world of music/concerts/seminars experienced many event stops due to the Covid — 19 pandemic. Many people regret that many event promoters have postponed their events for an unspecified time.
2 — Define
Here are some pain points that I explore.
a. Research Objectives
- Female
- Age 20–30 years
- Occupation — Employee, Entrepreuner, and College Student
- Domicile — Jabodetabek
- Already have Vidio account for at least 2 months
- Have the ability to speak Indonesian as a native language
- Have a good Creative Thinking

c. User Persona
Here is the define and user persona that I made
3 — Ideate
At this stage I try to organize the pain points of this mobile app into stages. The stages include Solution Idea, Affinity Diagram, Prioritize Idea, and finally Crazy 8.
a. Solution Idea
At this stage I took several solutions related to the application that I found after getting data from the Define (How Might Be) stage. Here is the solution idea I got.
b. Prioritize Idea
In this stage I made several priority categories consisting of Do it Now, Do Next, Later and Do Last. This stage aims to make the design team know what to do first.
c. Crazy 8’s
In this stage I made some descriptions of the Audio Streaming/Podcast and Live Streaming Concert/Seminar features in the Vidio mobile app.
4 — Prototyping
In this stage I make a picture of the wireframe and user flow that I will implement. The user flow that I made is how the user listens to Audio Streaming/Podcast and how the user chooses an online event whether it’s a concert or seminar.
The user flow for each feature is shown below
Next, the results will be documented in a Low Fidelity/Wireframe;
The final stage is to make High Fidelity from Low Fidelity; here are the results;
5 — Testing
At this stage I have not had time to do usability tests and interviews.
📄 Conclusion
My goal in making this is to make it easier for users to be able to enjoy streaming/podcast audio content and live concerts/seminars online. Optimistically, updating this feature can increase user interest in enjoying Vidio content more often.
🎯 Recomendation
During the stage of completing this case, I wanted to do a better deepening of the User Research interview as well as improvements in visual design but I haven’t had time to continue this project due to one reason or another that forced me to postpone this project.
